Itinerary

Day 1AKWAABA (WELCOME) - ARRIVAL

Arrive in Accra, Ghana.  Meet and assist. Transfer to hotel. Welcome drink/dinner and orientation by tour operator.

Day 2ABURI BOTANICAL GARDENS – TETTEH QUARSHIE COCOA FARM

After breakfast, depart Accra in the Greater Accra Region for the Eastern Region. Visit Aburi Botanical Gardens, the Wood Carvers village and continue to Tetteh Quarshie Cocoa Farm. Aburi is a small town North East of Accra which due to its altitude is a lot cooler than Accra. It is famous for the Aburi Botanical Gardens which was created in 1890 and is a habitat for plants and birds from all over the world. The beauty and uniqueness of this garden makes it a must experience for every visitor to Ghana. Or tour around a pineapple plantation at Hillburi. Enjoy some freshly tapped palm wine in town (optional).

Day 3BIRD WATCHING

After breakfast, continue to Obo, Kwahu in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Check into your lodge.

Ghana is a bird-watcher’s dream and the Kwahu ridge (Pepease) is one of the three hotspots for bird watchers in the country. Just 30 minutes away from JAYS, you will discover the Afram and the world’s largest man-made lake. You choose to be part of the fishing expedition with a motorized canoe or a ferry crossing experience to the Afram Plains and back.

You can also choose to just “chill” at JAYS, play board games (chess, draughts or monopoly) and table tennis or simply take the 7km hiking trial on foot or with a mountain bike Aduamoah…

Day 4TAFI ATOME MONKEY SANCTUARY – WLI WATERFALLS

 

 

Day 5AKOSOMBO DAM – VOLTA LAKE CRUISE

Depart Ho for Akosombo after breakfast. Check into River Resort and relax. You can also choose to visit the Akosombo Dam, a rock-fill dam known as the Akosombo Hydroelectric Project which supplies electricity to some neighbouring countries. And enjoy a boat cruise on the Volta Lake after breakfast. Overnight in Akosombo.

Day 6SHAI RESOURCE RESERVE – DEPARTURE

After breakfast, discover the Shai Hills Resource Reserve en route to Accra. This reserve consists of a very striking and attractive range of rocky hills set in the middle of expansive open and wooded grassland plains. At present, it is home to ostriches, bushbucks, antelopes and baboons. Either take a safari ride along the tourist’s routes or hike along walking trails. There are several cave systems in the hills, some of which have played and continue to play an important in local history, culture and tradition.

Return to Accra. Shopping and Departure.
